Omaka Springs ‘Falveys Single Vineyard’ Marlborough Chardonnay 2016

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 08-May-2017
Bright, light golden-hued straw-yellow colour, a little lighter on the rim. This has a fresh, full nose with harmoniously entwined aromas of white and yellow stonefruits along with suggestions of herbs, unfolding aromatic nutty oak and creamy barrel-ferment notes and lemon-curd MLF elements. Medium-bodied, the palate has restrained and gently mouthfilling flavours of white and yellow stonefruits melded with subtle notes of creamy barrel-ferment and nutty oak, flinty lees detail and suggestions of lemon-curd MLF. The mouthfeel is fresh, with a rounded core and smooth textures, and the wine flows along a fine line with underlying acid vitality, carryting to a lingering stonefruited and nutty finish. This is a gently restrained, harmonious Chardonnay with stonefruiy, creamy and nutty oak, and some MLF detail on a rounded, fine-textured palate. Match with poultry and pork dished over the next 4+ years. Fruit from the ‘Falveys’ vineyard, barrel-fermented, 35% by indigenous yeasts to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 12 months in 25% new French oak, with 100% MLF. 400 cases made. 18.0-/20 May 2017 RRP $23.00
