Omaka Springs ‘Falveys Single Vineyard’ Marlborough Chardonnay 2015

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 19-May-2016
Bright, even light golden yellow colour, a little lighter on the edge. The aromas of white and yellow stonefruits are initially reserved but grow in intensity revealing positive nutty oak. Soft layers of waxy, nutty, and lanolin notes along with herbal suggestions emerge to provide interest. Medium-full bodied, the palate is rich, powerful and fulsome with flavours of ripe yellow stonefruits and citrus fruits layered with citrus fruits and spicy, nutty oak. The palate has body, weight and presence, with fresh, lacy acidity and fine textural linearity providing line and power. Nuances of lanolin, waxy, nuts and herbs unfold along with oak and toast notes, lending detail to the crisp, refreshing finish. This is a fulsome, rich citrus and stonefruity Chardonnay with powerful toasty and nutty notes, and soft waxy and lanolin detail and a brisk, powerful palate. Match with grilled and roated seafood, poultry and pork over the next 5 years. Hand-picked Chardonnay fruit from the ‘Falveys’ vineyard, barrel-fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 9 months in 25% new French oak. 18.0-/20 May 2016 RRP $18.00
