Omaka Springs ‘Falveys Single Vineyard’ Marlborough Chardonnay 2014

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 05-Oct-2015
Bright, moderately deep, light golden yellow colour, paler on the edge. The nose is full and rich with aromas of yellow and green stonefruits entwined with complex, spicy and nutty oak, revealing some toasty elements. This has aromatic depth and concentration. Medium-full bodied, the palate is rounded and rich with up-front flavours of yellow and green stonefruits unfolding layers of citrus and mealy fruit, spicy, toasty and nutty oak and creamy barrel-ferment elements along with subtle oxidative complexities. The rich fruit and mouthfeel is underlined by balancing fine, dry textures and enlivened by fresh acidity, and the wine leads to a long, toasty, nutty finish. This is a fulsome, rich, traditional Chardonnay with stonefruit flavours and toasty and nutty complexities and a fresh mouthfeel. Serve with roasted poultry and pork dishes over the next 4 years. Hand-picked fruit from the ‘Falveys Road’ vineyard from 20 y.o. vines, barrel-fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 9 months in 25% new French oak, undergoing batonnage. 400 cases made. 17.5+/20 Oct 2015 RRP $18.00
