Old School Gimblett Road Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2010

Syrah from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 26-Nov-2013
Full, dark, deep black-red colour with youthful purple hues. The bouquet is tightly packed with black fruits intermixed with black and white pepper, spices, black florals, revealing smoky, charry oak and game nuances. Medium-full bodied, moderately rich and sweet black berry fruits and pepper flavours are interwoven with an amalgam of toasty oak, funky game and Asian spices. The mouthfeel is softly fresh, with fine-grained tannins in support and light acidity. The fruit flows on a satin-like palate line that leads to a light, dry and firm finish. This is a complex-flavoured, fine-textured, dry Syrah with black fruits and charry oak. Match with grilled and roasted red meat dishes over the next 4+ years. Fruit from Gimblett Road fermented to 14.3% alc., the wine aged 2 years in French oak barriques. 17.5/20 Nov 2013 RRP $24.99
