Old Coach Road Nelson Pinot Noir 2016

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 30-Jan-2017
Light garnet-red colour with some depth, paler on the rim. The nose is light with restrained aromas of strawberry fruit along with subtle notes of savoury dried herbs and nuances of resinous, nutty oak, lifted by red florals. Medium-bodied, the palate has gently sweet, up-front strawberry and savoury dried herb flavours intermingling with red florals and notes of nutty oak. The fruit is underlined by light, grainy tannin textures and enlivened by crisp, lacy acidity. The wine flows positively and carries to a light, sweet and savoury strawberry-fruited finish. This is an up-front, light, sweet strawberry fruited Pinot Noir with savoury dried herb and floral notes on a crisp, grainy palate. Match with tapas and antipasto over the next 2 years. Fruit from the ‘Brightwater’ and ‘Rabbit Island’ vineyards, given a cold soak and fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged in oak. 15.5-/20 Feb 2017 RRP $13.00
