Ohau Gravels Ohau Sauvignon Blanc 2012

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 26-Aug-2013
Bright, full, straw-yellow colour with some lemon hues. The nose is soft and full with gentle aromas of gooseberry fruit with herb notes and subtle nuances of tropical fruits. Nuances of nettles, flint and minerals emerge in glass. Dry to taste, the mouthfeel is soft and mellow with mild yellow stonefruit, tropical fruit and herbal flavours forming a rounded, weighty palate. The fruit is restrained but possesses some richness, enlivened by underlying acid brightness. As the wine flows, the fruit becomes drier and fades to a light, moderately long finish with dried herb elements. This is a soft, mellow yellow stonefruit flavoured Sauvignon Blanc with good up-front weight, subtle sweetness and liveliness. Serve with Mediterranean fare over the next 18 months – 2 years. Hand and machine-picked fruit, tank fermented with approximately 5% indigenous yeast fermented in seasoned barrels to 12.5% alc. and 2.8 g/L RS. 17.0-/20 Aug 2013 RRP $23.99
