Odyssey ‘Reserve Iliad’ Marlborough Pinot Noir 2014

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 15-Mar-2016
Dark, deep, purple-hued ruby-red colour, a little lighter edged, youthful in appearance. The nose is concentrated with intense and deep aromas of black berry and dark raspberry fruit harmoniously interwoven with notes of dark herbs, liquorice, revealing black berry nuances. Medium-bodied and elegantly concentrated, this has sweet flavours of blackberries, black cherries, dark raspberries and liquorice, along with subtle herbal elements. The fruit richness is supported by balance tannin extraction providing a fine grip to the mouthfeel. This has presence and the wine carries with good energy to a lingering finish of sweet black fruits. This is an elegantly concentrated Pinot Noir with sweet black fruits and fine tannin grip and presence. Match with duck, pork, beef and venison dishes over the next 5 years. Fruit from the ‘Odyssey’ vineyard, Brancott Valley, 6 clones, given a cold soak and indigenous yeast fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged one year in 35% new French oak barriques. Certified BioGro organic. 18.0/20 Mar 2016 RRP $42.00
