48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 3% Malbec, fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 10% new French oak, the remainder seasoned French barrels with some American oak. Dark, deep, black-hued ruby-red colour with garnet hues on rim. The bouquet is full, robust and densely packed with aromas of savoury blackcurrant and plum fruit, harmoniously intermixed with savoury earth and leather complexities that unfold in layers of interest. Fullish-bodied, softly concentrated flavours of plush and rich dark plum fruits, earth and dark herbs show some secondary development with leathery and dustiness. The mouthfeel is fulsome and solid with plenty of tannin structure and underlying alcohol power. As the wine flows, the textures build and lead to a dry, firm finish. This is a solid and well-structured Cabernet/Merlot with complexing secondary development. Match with slow-cooked game meat dishes over the next 7-8+ years. 18.0/20 Aug 2014 RRP $26.50
