Oak Estate ‘Home Block’ Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2017

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 15-Nov-2017
Bright, light yellow colour with pale golden hues, lighter on the edge. This has an elegantly packed nose with good depth of savoury stonefruits melded with creamy barrel-ferment and nutty oak along with flinty elements and subtle lemon-curd MLF aromas. Medium-full bodied, the palate has a good heart with deep flavours of savoury stonefruits entwined with nutty oak and complexing flinty nuances and a layering of lemon-curd MLF. The flavours are mouthfilling, and are underlined by good power and drive, flowing along a fine-textured line with balanced, fresh acidity. The nutty flavours and MLF carry to a lingering finish. This is a well-concentrated and flavoursome Chardonnay with savoury stonefruit, flint and nutty detail, and a soft layering of lemon-curd MLF. Match with seafood, poultry and pork dishes over the next 4 years. Clone 15 fruit from the ‘Home’ block, hand-picked, WBP and barrel-fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 11 months in 25% new French oak with 100% MLF. 18.0/20 Nov 2017 RRP $26.00
