Oak Estate Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2015

Syrah from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 15-Nov-2017
Full, even, dark, deep ruby-red colour with purple hues, a little lighter edged, very youthful in appearance. The nose is fresh and vibrantly aromatic with full, ripe dark raspberry and blackberry fruit intermixed with black pepper, violet florals and hints of reductive, minerally complexities. Medium-bodied, the palate has rich and bright fruit flavours of sour dark raspberries and blackberry fruit, intermingling with black pepper, earthy elements and hints of reduction, unfolding spice and floral notes. The fruit is enlivened by lacy acidity and supported by light, grainy tannin extraction. The acidity and structure carries the flavours to a lingering finish. This is a vibrantly rich-fruited Syrah with blackberry raspberry and peppery flavours on a fresh and lively palate with acid drive. Serve with roasted game meats and casseroles over the next 5-6 years . Fruit from inland gravels, hand-picked and indigenous yeast fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 20 months in 25% new French oak. 17.5/20 Nov 2017 RRP $26.00
