Dark deep, purple-hued ruby-red colour, a little lighter on the rim, youthful in appearance. The nose is softly concentrated and a little shy in expression, showing dark-red plum and berry fruit aromas along with an amalgam of dark-red florals with nuances of herbs and earth. Full-bodied, the palate has flavours of ripe, dark-red plums and berry fruit with notes of dark herbs and iron-earth characters which lend a little rusticity. The fruit is rich and deep, and is supported by grainy-textured tannins providing good structure and grip, and is balanced by fresh acidity. The flavours carry along a well-concentrated line, leading to a long savoury finish. This is a full-bodied Merlot with slightly restrained aromas and flavours of dark-red plums, berries, herbs and earth on a well-concentrated palate with tannin grip. Match with barbecued and roasted beef and lamb dishes over the next 5-6 years. Fruit from inland gravels, hand-picked and indigenous yeast fermented to 14.5% alc., the wine aged 12 months in 30% new French oak. 17.0-/20 Nov 2017 RRP $23.00
