Nor’wester By Greystone Pinot Noir 2020 North Canterbury

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 14-Feb-2024
Moderately deep crimson, lighter on edge. This has an alluring bouquet with penetrating aromas of macerated cherry, thyme, spice and a hint of game. Medium-bodied, aromas of macerated cherry melded with crushed thyme, cinnamon, nutmeg and gamey, savoury richness. Fine tannins lightly coat the palate with a black tea fragrance; well-balanced acidity drives a savoury, spiced finish. This Pinot Noir has an alluring presence of dark fruit and spice and an elegant mouthfeel. Match with lamb koftas and duck over the next 3 years. Dijon clones were fermented in small batches after 3 weeks, then pressed into French oak barrels and aged for 9 months, 2% new oak. 13% alc. 18+/20 pts (91 pts) Feb 2024 RRP $32
