Northburn Station Central Otago Pinot Noir 2012

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 28-May-2015
Dark, deep, purple-hued ruby-red colour, lighter on edge and youthful in appearance. This has a full, soft nose with ripe dark red cherry and berry fruit aromas harmoniously melded with violet florals and subtle nuances of thyme herbs. A little toasty oak emerges and the aromatics grow in the glass. Medium-full bodied, the palate is elegantly proportioned and features a pure fruited, tight core of sweetly ripe dark cherry and berry fruit, entwined with thyme herbs, violets and red florals. The fruit is underscored by fine-grained tannins that lend good structure and grip. This has good linearity and the wine carries to a dry, textured finish with florals and raspberry elements. This is an elegant and tightly constructed Pinot Noir with pure dark cherry fruit with lifted perfumes, and a fine, dry structure. Match with duck and pork, and with Asian fare over the next 6-7+ years. Multi-clone blend from ‘Northburn Station’, hand-picked, fully destemmed and fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 10 months in French oak. 18.0/20 May 2015 RRP $29.95
