Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Central Otago & Waitaki
Review Date : 31-Aug-2022
Dark ruby-red with a slight garnet hue, lighter on the rim. The nose is gently full, with concentrated, youthful, ripe cherry and strawberry melded with an amalgam of herbs and forest floor. Medium-bodied, the palate is bright with concentrated aromas of cherry, strawberry, unfolding thyme, oregano, forest floor and black pepper. The flavour shows depth and richness with a red fruit core. Lacy acidity carries crunchy minerals and velvety tannins through the palate and lingers to a lengthy, elegant finish. This Pinot Noir has vivid aromas and good energy supported by lacy acidity and a fine structure. Match with duck and wild boar over the next 10 years. Handpicked, 100% destemmed, fermented to 13% alc, on skins for 16 days, aged 11 months in French oak barrels, 22% new oak. 19/20 pts (95 pts) Aug 2022 RRP $69
