Nockie’s Palette Pinot Noir 2018, Waitaki Valley

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Central Otago & Waitaki
Review Date : 12-May-2021
Slightly hazy (unfiltered), light ruby-red with some depth, faintly lighter on the rim. The nose is soft and elegant, fragrances of raspberries, cherries melded with delicate floral and herbs, and a subtle mineral thread. Medium-bodied, delicate aromas of raspberries, strawberries interweave dried thyme and cinnamon, unfolding a hint of old roses and black pepper. Fine-textured tannin provides a supple mouthfeel, supported by cool-climate vibrant acidity. A hint of liquorice and dried herbs development added interest, linger to a moderately long, dry finish. This is a cool-climate, red-fruited Pinot Noir with a vibrant acid line and supple, powdery palate. Match with pork belly and duck over the next 4-5 years. Fermented to 13% alc, vegan friendly. 18.5-/20 pts (92 pts) May 2021 RRP $69
