Nockie’s Palette Georgetown Pinot Noir 2019, Central Otago

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Central Otago & Waitaki
Review Date : 31-Aug-2022
Dark ruby-red, lighter on the rim. This has a tight, minerally bouquet, slowly expressing red fruit of cherry and plum, along with soil, spice and rich herb. Medium-bodied, rich and concentrated aromas of plums and cherry melded with thyme, liquorice, black pepper and barrel spice. The mouthfeel is coated with smooth, velvety tannins; black pepper lingers at the closing. The fruit is concentrated with depth and weight, supported by lively, integrated acidity. This harmonious Pinot Noir shows depth and fruit weight, with succulent fruit, spice and a velvety palate. Match with lamb and mushroom ravioli over the next 8+ years. Handpicked, clones 114, 115, 667 and 777 destemmed into two open-top fermenters, fermented to 13.8% alc. 4% of clone 114 fermented whole bunch in oak barrique. Aged 10 months in French oak barriques, 28% new oak. 18.5+/20 pts (94 pts) Aug 2022 RRP $48
