No. 1 Family Reserve Methode Traditionelle, Marlborough

Sparkling Wine from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 16-Nov-2022
Bright, even, straw-yellow with a light gold hue. The bead is very fine and persistent. This has an attractive, opulent bouquet filled the glass with biscuit, toasty, nutty autolysis, underlying baked apple, citrus, stonefruit and a hint of spice. Medium-full bodied, aromas of Meyer lemon, grapefruit, lemon preserve, interweave stonefruit and apple are tightly bounded, unveiling marzipan, baked bread and shortbread. Fine-textured, chalky phenolic veiled the palate with silk, and tangy acidity injected vitality. The wine is poised and well-balanced, with excellent length, texture and complexity. Match with chicken ballotine and grilled crayfish over the next 5-7 years. 100% Chardonnay, 12.5% alc, 5 g/l RS, on lees for 5.5+ years. 19/20 pts (95 pts) Nov 2022 RRP $96
