No. 1 Family Estate ‘Reserve Cuvee No. 10′ Methode Traditionnelle NV

Sparkling Wine from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 13-Feb-2011
A limited release wine to commemorate a decade of the No. 1 Family Estate operation. 65% Chardonnay, 20% Pinot Meunier and 15% Pinot Noir, this is 12.5% alc. with a dosage of 8 g/L sugar, spending 4 years on lees, this is Lot 05275. Bright, deep, golden straw-yellow in colour with a fine and persistent bead, this has a very powerful, intense and concentrated nose of complex autolytic characters of yeast extract and aldehydes with dark fruits. The density of bouquet unfolds layers of interest in the glass. Dry on palate, this possesses an amazing array of complex, mushroom, earth, toast, yeast and aldehydic flavours. Multi-dimensional, there is great fruit richness present. The Pinot fruit is to the fore. This is a magnificent statement wine that will certainly stun people with its personality, but it may also polarise. This wine will match textural, meat dishes, but may be best to contemplate and appreciate on its own. 19.5/20 Jan 2011 RRP $52.50
