No. 1 Family Estate No. 1 Reserve Methode Traditionelle NV, Marlborough

Sparkling Wine from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 04-Oct-2021
Bright, full, yellow-gold colour with some depth, bubbles are delicately fine and gently persistent. The nose is softly full with depth, penetrating aromas of lemon, lemon preserve, backed apple, stonefruit, unfolding crusty bread, yeasty autolysis character and a hint of minerals. Full-bodied, well-proportioned aromas of stonefruit, baked apple, lemon preserve are tightly bounded with a savoury edge; yeasty autolysis reflect crusty bread, almond croissant, along with grapefruit peels and minerals, lend a long, nuanced finish. There is depth and intensity build on the flavours, mouth-filling and mealy. The wine possesses a soft phenolic grip, supported by taut and integrated acidity; layered bready-yeasty autolysis elements carry a complex, harmonious mouthfeel. This is a gracefully developed methode traditionelle with multilayers of interest. Match with guinea fowl and crayfish Thermidor over the next 5+ years.100% Chardonnay 12.5% alc, 5g/l dosage, 5.5 years+ on lees.
