No. 1 Family Estate Cuvee Virginie Methode Traditionelle 2016, Marlborough

Sparkling Wine from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 18-Oct-2020
Bright, even, straw-yellow with some depth. Bubbles are fine and persistence. The bouquet is elegantly presented, aromas of lemon curd, stonefruit, entwined with madeleines and creamy autolysis. Dry to taste, medium-bodied, the palate is fresh and elegant, nuances of lemon sherbet, grapefruit and stonefruit have good tension, adorned by fresh-baked madeleines, along with creamy autolysis underlay. The fruit is fresh and balanced with subtle zesty citrus spices, highlighted the purity of fruit, lingers along a mineral texture line. Silky mouthfeel enlivens by creamy mousse, releases aromas with intensity and poise. The wine flows seamlessly with tension and breadth, lingers to a long, dry, elegant finish. This is an elegant methode traditionelle with precision and finesse, flavours of lemon sherbet and stonefruit, fresh-baked madeleines on a seamless lingering zesty palate. Match with scallop risotto and lobster carpaccio over the next 5 years. A blend of 80% Chardonnay, 20% Pinot Noir. Aged on lees for 45 months, 12% alc, 3.14 g/l RS. 19-/20 pts (95 pts) Oct 2020 RRP $98
