No. 1 Family Estate ‘Cuvee Number 8′ Methode Traditionnelle NV

Sparkling Wine from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 13-Feb-2011
The mainstay for No. 1 Family Estate, sporting the Chinese lucky numeral ‘8' and red and gold label colours. 65% Pinot Noir, 20% Chardonnay and 15% Pinot Meunier, at 13.0% alc. with a dosage of 5.4 g/L rs, this bottling, Lot 10015, spending nearly three years on lees. This has the faintest blush to a straw-yellow colour with good mousse. Very fresh and lively on bouquet, this is open and accessible with Pinot fruit character and reasonably bold brioche-like autolysis aromatics providing depth. Dry on palate, the acidity lends a racy and fresh mouthfeel. The apple-like fruit and autolysis are moderate and in the background, but in very good proportion. Essentially a drier and crisp style with moderate depth, but good liveliness. Ideal as an aperitif and all-purpose sparkling wine. 17.0-/20 Jan 2011 RRP $32.50
