No. 1 Family Estate Assemble Méthode Traditionelle NV, Marlborough

Sparkling Wine from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 08-Sep-2020
Bright, straw-yellow with a golden hue, lighter edge. The bubbles are fine with moderate persistence. The nose is softly-full, penetrating ripe stonefruit aromas of peach, nectarine; baked apple and subtle note of citrus. Yeasty autolysis expressed in cream, bread, along with subtle nuttiness. Medium-bodied, dry to taste, the stonefruit and apple has an elegant core, entwined with citrus and subtle pith nuances. Fresh bread, cream and a hint of nuts on the background added complexity. The wine flows on a soft-textured line with good drive, balanced acidity and creamy mousse lend a lingering finish. This is an attractive méthode traditionelle with flavours of stonefruit; autolysis details flow on a good drive and soft-textured line. Match with chicken ballotine and prawns over the next 2-3 years. A blend of 60% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir, 5% Pinot Meunier, aged on lees for 18 months. 12.5% alc, 6 g/l RS. 17.5/20 pts Sept 2020 RRP $32
