No. 1 Family Estate Assemble Methode Traditionelle NV, Marlborough

Sparkling Wine from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 16-Nov-2022
Bright, straw-yellow- with a gold hue, with depth. The bead is fine and persistent. The nose is vibrant with complexity and elegance, with aromas of apple, stonefruit, preserved lemon, zest and red berries enriched with almond and toasty-yeasty autolysis complexity. Medium-full bodied, aromas of baked apple intertwined with peach, preserved lemon and zest, subtle notes of red berries linger with raw almond, toast, pastry and delicate spice, lending a long, flavoursome finish. A lightly chalky textured line contributes to the mouthfeel and flows with zingy acidity and spice to a lengthy finish. This Methode Traditionnelle is packed with well-proportioned flavours and autolysis character; a taut core and fine-textured palate carry to a satisfying, elegant finish. Match with pork head terrine and seafood over the next 3-4 years. 60% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir and 5% Pinot Meunier, 12.5% alc, 4.9 g/l RS, on lees for 3 years. 18.5/20 pts (93 pts) Nov 2022 RRP $34
