Nikau Point ‘Reserve’ Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2014

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 14-Jun-2015
Bright, very pale straw colour with green hues, near colourless on rim. The nose is very fresh and tight with cool-spectrum gooseberry, cut grass and nettle-like aromas, unfolding subtle passionfruit nuances. This is pure and uncomplicated in expression. Dry to taste and light-medium bodied, tight grassy and nettle-like fruit flavours are entwined with gooseberry notes. Some minerally elements show with a chalky phenolic core and underlay lending a dry mouthfeel. Fresh, lacy acidity enlivens the palate, adding a degree of lusciousness, and the wine carries to a dry, soft-textured nettle and herb flavoured finish. This is a tight, uncomplicated, focussed, cool-spectrum Sauvignon Blanc with soft, dry textures. Serve with shellfish and Pacific Rim fare over the next 18 months to 2 years. Fruit 70% from the Awatere Valley and 30% from the Wairau Valley, transported to Katikati for vinification, cool-fermented to 12.0% alc. 16.0/20 Jun 2015 RRP $13.99
