Nieto Senetiner Mendoza Malbec 2013

Malbec from Argentina
Review Date : 19-Feb-2015
Fruit from Vistalba, Lujan de Cuyo, from vines 40 y.o., fermented to 14.5% alc., 40% of the wine aged 6-8 months in seasoned French oak. Very dark, black-hued ruby-red with garnet on the rim. This has a full, soft and harmonious nose of ripe black berried and plum fruit entwined with spices and earth and dark herbal detail. Medium-full bodied, plush, sweetly ripe flavours of black plums, and dark red and blue berry fruits are the feature on the palate. The fruit richness is enhanced by subtle spicy and cedary oak nuances. The mouthfeel is well-balanced with fine, grainy tannin structure and fresh, lacy acid cut and vitality. The textures carry the flavours to a long, lingering spicy plum and fruit-cake nuanced finish. This is a plush, rich-fruited Malbec with balanced tannin framework. Match with barbecued and roasted red meats over the next 5-6 years. 17.5+/20 Feb 2015 RRP $17.99
