Nieto Senetiner ‘Benjamin’ Mendoza Syrah 2014

Syrah from Argentina
Review Date : 19-Feb-2015
Very dark, near impenetrable black-red colour with slight purple hues on rim. The nose is softly voluminous with good density of black berry fruit with notes of black pepper, spices, earth and herbs. Medium-bodied, the palate features tightly bound but juicy fruit flavours of blackberries and dark raspberries, along with savoury pepper, spice and herb elements. The mouthfeel is dry with grainy-textured tannin extraction which grows in prominence through the mid-palate. The tannin grip and fresh acidity carry the wine to a fresh, dry finish. This is a sweet and juicy Syrah with black and red fruits, freshness and dry tannin grip. Match with grilled and barbecued red meat dishes over the next 2-3+ years. Fruit from Lujan de Cuyo from vines 10–15 y.o., fermented to 12.5% alc. 15.5/20 Feb 2015 RRP $11.99
