Nieto Senetiner ‘Benjamin’ Mendoza Malbec 2014

Malbec from Argentina
Review Date : 19-Feb-2015
Very dark, deep, black-hued ruby-red colour with light purple on edge. This has an open and even nose with light aromas of ripe blackberry, plum and boysenberry fruit along with herbal elements. This is uncomplicated and fruit focussed. Medium-bodied, rich and sweetly ripe flavours of plums, blackberries and blueberries show with good depth. The fruit is underlined by fine, grainy tannins balancing the sweetness. The mouthfeel has density and a harmonious flow, leading to a solid, textured finish with juicy black plum flavours. This is a softly packed, sweet black-fruited Malbec with some structure. Match with slow-cooked game meat over the next 4+ years. Fruit from the ‘Alto Agrelo’ estate from 37 y.o.vines, fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged in French oak. 16.5-/20 Feb 2015 RRP $11.99
