Nicolas Perrin Syrah/Viognier 2013

Syrah from France - Rhone
Review Date : 05-Oct-2015
Syrah and Viognier from the Northern Cotes du Rhone and Southern Rhone, given a cold soak and fermented to 12.5% alc., a portion of the wine aged in oak. Full, dark, black-red colour with youthful purple hues. This has a tightly bound and finely concentrated bouquet of ripe, black-berried fruits along with subtle raspberry notes and lifted florals. Nuances of liquorice and minerals unfold in the glass. Medium-bodied, tightly concentrated and sweet black-berried fruits show with dark red florals, black pepper and hints of spice. Fresh acidity lends energy and the fruit is supported by fine-grained tannins that lend a firm linearity. The palate leads to a lively finish with spicy black fruit and pepper. This is a tight, concentrated black-fruited blend of Syrah and Viognier with a fine, firm line. Match with lamb, beef and venison over the next 4-5 years. 17.0+/20 Oct 2015 RRP $26.99
