Ngatarawa ‘Stables Reserve’ Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2015

Syrah from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 05-May-2016
Very dark, deep, black-hued purple-red, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is soft and fragrant, unfolding gentle ethereal layers of savoury red berry fruits entwined with Middle Eastern spices, white pepper and dried herbs, and oak cedar. Medium-bodied, light and juicy, mouthwatering flavours of savoury red berry fruits are melded with earthy notes, white pepper and Middle Eastern spices. The fruit is supported by modest tannin extraction lending a little dry texture and grip to the mouthfeel. Soft acidity enhances the gentle flow, and the wine leads to a soft, light finish. This is a light, up-front sweet fruited Syrah with red fruits, spices and white pepper, and a soft, light, mouthfeel. Serve with Asian and Middle Eastern fare over the next 2-3 years. Fruit from 40% Bridge Pa Triangle and 60% from Moteo and Dartmoor, fermented with 0.5% Viognier with oak contact, 20% new equivalence to 13.0% alc. 16.0+/20 May 2016 RRP $19.00
