Ngatarawa ‘Stables Reserve’ Hawke’s Bay Merlot 2009

Merlot from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 19-Jun-2011
96% Merlot and 4% Malbec fermented to 13.5% alc, and aged in oak. Dark, deep, purple-hued ruby-red in colour, youthful in appearance. This is tight and elegant on bouquet with black plum and berry fruit aromas, some earth and herb elements showing. An elegant and well-proportioned wine of balance, the fruit expression is a little shy at present. Dark berry and plums, some liquorice and subtle oak shine are present, framed within good tannin structure. The wine has ripeness and freshness and should develop and express more with some bottle age. Serve with lamb and hard cheeses over the next 4-6+ years. 16.0+/20 Jun 2011 RRP $22.00
