Ngatarawa ‘Stables’ ‘Lighter’ Hawke’s Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2015

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 19-May-2016
Bright, light straw-yellow colour with pale green-gold hues, lighter on the rim. This has a very fresh, tightly bound and intensely penetrating nose of cool gooseberry fruit along with nettle, fresh herb and green capsicum notes, unveiling some white floral elements. Dryish to taste and lighter-bodied, the palate features fresh and zesty, lively and up-front flavours of gooseberries, fresh herbs, nettles, cut grass and green capsicums. White florals and mouth-watering mineral elements emerge, and the wine flows along a positive, fine-textured phenolic line, driven by brisk, underlying acidity. This has drive and linearity, and the core leads to a long and sustained, dryish, thirst-quenching finish with nettle and gooseberry flavours. This is a crisp and racy, lighter Sauvignon Blanc with thirst-quenching gooseberry and nettly flavours. Serve as an aperitif, with seafood and salads and vegetables over the next 2 years. Fruit from an upper river terrace site at Mangatahi, picked at 17.5-18.0° Brix and cool-fermented to 9.5% alc. and 9 g/L, with TA 7.8 g/L and pH 2.94 RS. 16.5-/20 May 2016 RRP $15.00
