Ngatarawa ‘Proprietors Reserve’ Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2013

Syrah from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 13-May-2015
Very full, deep, saturated black-red colour with youthful purple hues. This has a full, soft richly ripe nose of dark plum and blackberry fruit that builds in depth and density, showing liquorice, Asian spices, tar, earth, mineral and game-like notes. This has real aromatic presence. Medium-bodied, soft and densely packed flavours of black berried fruits, plums, liquorice and black pepper fill the palate. The mouthfeel is full, soft-textured and smooth flowing, showing depth and a rounded, concentrated heart. The acidity is soft, enhancing the richness, and flavours of tar, earth and game unfold along with spicy oak. The wine carries to a rich, spicy, mouthfilling finish with some fruit vibrancy. This is a full, soft and densely packed Syrah with ripe black plum, liquorice and spice flavours. Match with game meat dishes over the next 4-5+ years. 100% Syrah from the company’s Bridge Pa Triangle vineyards, hand-picked, destemmed and fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine spending 14 days on skins post ferment and aged 12 months in French oak barriques. 17.5+/20 May 2015 RRP $39.00
