Ngatarawa ‘Glazebrook’ Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2014

Syrah from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 26-May-2015
Very dark, black-hued purple-red colour, lighter on edge and youthful in appearance. The nose is very fresh and aromatic with fragrant, primary aromas of black berry fruit, black pepper, white pepper and violet florals alongside nuances of exotic Asian spices. Medium-bodied, the fruit flavours are tightly bound and restrained, with a core of blackberries, white and black pepper, spices and florals. The mouthfeel is fresh and lively with bright, lacy acidity and the wine follows a fine-featured tannin line. The extraction is modest and lends a supple texture. The wine is elegant and flows with good energy leading to a moderately long finish of black fruits, pepper and florals. This is a restrained, elegant, fine-textured Syrah with aromatic black fruits, pepper and florals. Serve with Asian and Middle Eastern fare over the next 4+ years. Hawke’s Bay fruit destemmed and warm fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine spending 2 weeks on skins post ferment and aged approx. 6 months in French oak with 20% new equivalence. 17.0/20 May 2015 RRP $22.00
