Ngatarawa ‘Glazebrook’ Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2016

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 24-Feb-2017
Bright, light golden-yellow colour with some depth, paler on the rim. This is elegant and slender in presentation with finely concentrated aromas of white stonefruits entwined with an amalgam of creamy barrel-ferment and nutty oak, with complexing nuances of flinty minerals. Medium-full bodied, the palate features a tightly bound core of white and yellow stonefruits entwined with subtle nutty oak and nuances of flint and minerals lending complexing detail. The wine is carried by light phenolic textures and fresh, taut acidity, providing energy and linearity. The flavours lead to a light, lingering finish of stonefruits, nuts and flint. This is an elegant, firmly packed, linear Chardonnay with stonefruit, nutty and flinty flavours. Match with seafood and white meat dishes over the next 3-4 years. Fruit from the Bridge Pa Triangle, 80% tank-fermented with 20% new oak equivalence and 20% barrel-fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine undergoing extensive lees contact and batonnage, with no MLF. 17.5/20 Feb 2017 RRP $22.00
