Nga Waka Pinot Noir 2020, Martinborough

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 15-Jan-2022
Deep, ruby-red, lighter on the rim. The wine has an enticing bouquet, softly full with a lead of savoury aroma, intermix cherries, bruised plums, earth and sweet spices. Medium-full bodied, aromas of cherries, plums have depths, entwined with dark herb, vanilla, cinnamon and earth. The mouthfeel is silky with supple, powdery tannin; spice lingers on the finish and reveals earth and herb details. The fruit has good weight and concentration, complimenting oak spices. This Pinot Noir has power and elegance, savoury earth and herb detail with weight on a silky palate. Match with roasted duck and lamb over the next 4-5 years. Fermented with 10% whole bunches to 14% alc, 11-23 days total maceration, MLF in tight grain French oak barriques, 20% new oak, total time 16 months. Unfined & unfiltered. 18.5/20 pts (93 pts) Jan 2022 RRP $35
