Newman’s Own ‘Common Good’ California Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Cabernet Sauvignon from USA
Review Date : 16-Oct-2018
Very dark, deep, near impenetrable purple-hued ruby-red colour, a little lighter edged, youthful in appearance. The nose is softly full and voluminous with deep and ripe fruit aromas of blackcurrants, mulberries and dark-red plums with notes of eucalyptus and some mint herb. Medium-full bodied, the palate has soft, gentle, restrained but plush flavours of ripe blackcurrants, plums and mulberries with hints of herbs and eucalypt. The mouthfeel is soft and smooth with modest extraction lending rounded, soft textures. The fruit sweetness is the feature, and the wine carries easily to a light, lingering finish of berry fruit and plums. This is a soft, smooth and ripe Cabernet Sauvignon with blackcurrant plum, mulberry and eucalypt flavours on a gently extracted palate. Match with barbecued fare over the next 2-3 years. California fruit, 66%Lodi and 34% Coastal, fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged in French and American oak. 16.5+/20 Oct 2018 RRP $29.90
