Neudorf ‘Tom’s Block’ Nelson Pinot Noir 2015

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 01-Jun-2017
Dark, deep ruby-red colour with some black hues at heart, lighter on the rim. The nose is soft and gently voluminous with already complex aromas of ripe, savoury strawberry, cherry and raspberry fruit entwined with red floral, fresh and dried herbs and nuances of spice and undergrowth. Medium-full bodied, the palate has a richly sweet, vibrant core of dark-red cherry and berry fruit along with dark-red florals and subtle notes of fresh and dried herbs, with spice elements. The fruit is enlivened by fresh, lacy acidity and the mouthfeel possesses energy and vitality. The fruit is underlined by fine-grained tannin extract, providing a positively driven core and line, leading to a fine-textured, sweet-fruited, lingering finish. This is a deliciously rich, sweet-fruited Pinot Noir with dark red berry fruits and herb complexities on a bright, lively, finely extracted palate. Serve with poultry, pork, lamb and beef dishes over the next 5-6 years. Clones 5, 10/5, 667, 777, 113, Abel and 115, from the Neudorf ‘Home’ block, the ‘Flaxmore’ vineyard and ‘Pomona’ vineyard, all in the Upper Moutere, hand-picked, fully destemmed and indigenous yeast fermented to13.5% alc., the wine aged 11 months in 22% new French oak. 18.5+/20 Jun 2017 RRP $33.00
