Neudorf ‘Rosie’s Block’ Nelson Chardonnay 2015

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 15-Apr-2016
Pale golden-yellow colour with lemon-green hues. The nose is finely concentrated with fresh aromas of ripe yellow stonefruits entwined with mealy notes, creamy barrel-ferment and nutty oak, and complexing flinty and minerally lees notes in a harmonious amalgam with lemon-curd MLF and oak toast. The nose has an underlying steely intensity. Medium-bodied, the palate is elegantly concentrated with flavours of white and yellow tonefruits melded with flinty lees, nutty and creamy oak with subtle toast elements and nuances of lemon-curd MLF. The wine is taut with fine, grainy textures and crisp, lacy acidity forming a positive line. The mouthfeel is brisk and refreshing, and carries to a long, tightly bound finish with stonefruit and nutty notes. This is an elegant and complex, stonefruit and flinty flavoured Chardonnay with a brisk, taut and textural palate. Match with seafood, poultry and pork over the next 4-5 years. Clones Mendoza, 15, 95, 8021 and 548 from ‘Rosie’s Block’, the ‘Home Block’ and small lots from other Moutere sites, hand-picked, WBP, and indigenous yeast barrel-fermented with high solids to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 15% new French oak with batonnage and 100% MLF. 2,355 cases made. 18.5/20 Apr 2016 RRP $33.00
