Neudorf Nelson Sauvignon Blanc 2012

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 08-Mar-2013
Fruit from the ‘Balquidder’ and ‘Lord Rutherford’ vineyards on the Waimea Plains, mainly machine harvested, but a small portion hand-picked and WBP. Fermented to 13.5% alc. and 3.1 g/L rs, with approx. 15% in older barriques and left on gross lees. Bright, very pale straw-yellow colour, pale on edge. This has an elegant and stylishly proportioned nose with restrained aromas of gooseberries and stonefruits revealing mineral, white floral and citrus detail in the glass. Dry to taste, this is very fine-featured with intense flavours of gooseberries, stonefruits, citrus and limes. The fruit notes are nuanced and interwoven, forming a good core with presence, and have a deliciously subtle richness which is enhanced by bright, lively acidity. The palate has excellent tension and a refined mouthfeel that flows to a lingering, softly dry finish. This is a beautifully refined and detailed Sauvignon Blanc with a stylish array of flavours. Match with seafood and poultry over the next 2-3 years. 18.5-/20 Mar 2013 RRP $22.90
