Neudorf Nelson Chardonnay 2011

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 12-Aug-2012
Brilliant straw-yellow colour with light golden hues, pale on rim. This has a fresh, refined nose with lively white stonefruit, flint and minerally aromas seamlessly interwoven with detailed mealy, nutty notes. Medium-full bodied, concentrated and densely packed flavours form a well-proportioned core. A complex array of flavours with stonefruits, flint, mealy biscuits and nuts show with excellent poise from lacy, supporting acidity. The palate has a fine and dry textural line which blossoms with citrus and nutty flavours on a very long and sustained finish. This is an elegant and concentrated Chardonnay with plenty of subtle complexity. It should develop well over the next 4-5 years. Match with poultry and pork. Hand-picked fruit, a mix of Mendoza, 15, 95 and 8021 clones, from the Moutere clay sites of the ‘Home' block, ‘Rosedale Road'. ‘Kina Beach', ‘Renat', ‘Flaxmore', ‘Pine Hill Serenity' and ‘Durville' vineyards, along fruit from the ‘Lord Rutherford' site on Brightwater gravels, WBP and primarily wild yeast fermented, all in barrel to 14.0% alc., the wine aged in 20% new barrels for 10 months, on lees and undergoing 100% MLF. 6038 cases made. 18.5+/20 Aug 2012 RRP $29.90
