Neudorf Moutere Nelson Chardonnay 2015

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 13-Dec-2016
Bright straw-yellow colour with slight golden hue, paler on the rim. The nose is elegant and restrained with fine, underlying concentration of white and yellow stonefruit flavour melded with complex layers of nutty oak and oxidative detail, unfolding subtle creamy barrel-ferment richness, toasty oak suggestions and chalky mineral nuances. Medium-full bodied, the palate is tightly bound with flavours of white stonefruits, white florals and nutty oak, entwined with complex oxidative elements and flinty minerals. The mouthfeel is refreshing, vibrant and poised with lacy acidity and guided by a very fine-textured phenolic line. This has energy, drive and linearity that carry the wine to a long and sustained, fine-textured, dry finish of stonefruits, nuts and minerals. This is a tightly concentrated Chardonnay with flavours of white stonefruits, nuts and oxidative and minerally complexities on a poised, fine-textured palate in the white burgundy style. Serve with seafood and most white meat dishes over the next 5-6 years. Mendoza clone Chardonnay from the ‘Home’ and ‘Rosie’s’ blocks, Upper Moutere, WBP and fully indigenous yeast barrel-fermented with high solids to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 12 months in 12% new French oak undergoing monthly batonnage with a further 4 months on fine lees in tank, with 100% MLF 591 cases made. 19.0+/20 Dec 2016 RRP $74.00
