Neudorf Moutere Chardonnay 2011

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 28-Aug-2012
Brilliant straw-yellow colour with light gold and lemon hues, light on rim. This has an extremely refined nose of excellent intensity, showing beautifully pure, mineral-laced stonefruit and citrus aromas that unfold to reveal complexing nuances of gunflint lees work interwoven with mealy, nutty elements. Full-bodied, richly concentrated and succulently ripe citrus fruit flavours show with a complex mealy-nutty amalgam. The palate flows seamlessly with fine creamy barrel-ferment textures and perfectly balanced oak spicing. Flinty nuances add another dimension to the layers of flavour. The wine is beautifully poised with refined textures and crisp, lacy acidity that carries the flavours to a very long, sustained finish featuring mealy, nutty and minerally notes. This is a beautifully refined, seamless, complex-flavoured and sophisticated Chardonnay to delight in over the next 5-7 years. Serve with firm seafood, rich poultry and pork dishes. Old Mendoza clone Chardonnay fruit from the ‘Home Block' hand-picked and WBP, then indigenous yeast fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 12 months with lees stirring in 33% new French oak, including 500 L puncheons. 716 cases made. 20.0/20 Aug 2012 RRP $58.00
