Neudorf ‘Maggie’s Block’ Nelson Pinot Gris 2010

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 13-May-2011
Made from fruit from the ‘Balquhidder' vineyard in Brightwater, whole bunch pressed and fermented mainly with inoculated yeasts to 14.0% alc. and 4.2 g/L rs, 10% of the ferment in barrel. Pale straw-yellow colour with a pale green hued edge, this has a bouquet of great purity and finesse of white stonefruits and minerals, very intense and with real depth. Dry on palate, this is a wine of beautiful delicacy, yet it is firm and intense. Flavours of white peaches and pears are nuanced with subtle spice and floral aromatic characters that add more than a hint of lusciousness. The textures are refined and provide great drive and length. Serve with seafood and subtly spiced Vietnamese, Thai or Japanese cuisine over the next 4-5+ years. 18.5/20 May 2011 RRP $24.90
