Nautilus Estate Marlborough Pinot Gris 2015

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 09-Dec-2015
Very pale straw colour, very pale edged. The nose is soft and ethereal with voluminous aromatics of exotic white florals and white stonefruits, along with some honeysuckle and fermentation esters. The fine depth, core and aromatic penetration grows with aeration. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the fruit flavours of white and yellow stonefruits are tightly held, forming a subtly luscious core with a degree of unctuousness, along with some underlying alcoholic power. The palate unveils floral and nutty elements as it flows along a fine-textured line. The acidity is soft and balanced, and the wine leads to a long, tightly bound, dry finish with floral and esters lift. This is a tight, elegantly concentrated, dry Pinot Gris with white stonefruit and floral lift. Serve with Thai, Japanese and Vietnamese cuisine over the next 3+ years. Fruit from the ‘Awatere’ vineyard, cool-fermented in stainless-steel, with 10% in seasoned oak to 13.5% alc. and 2.5 g/L RS, the wine aged 5 months on lees. 17.5/20 Dec 2015 RRP $29.00
