Nautilus Estate Marlborough Gruner Veltliner 2015

Gruner Veltliner from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 10-Dec-2015
Fruit from the ‘Renwick’ vineyard, fifth crop, 30% fermented on skins for 3 days and barrel-fermented in seasoned oak to 13.5% alc. and 1.5 g/L RS, the wine aged 5 months on lees. Brilliant, light straw-yellow colour with light golden hues, pale edged. The nose is elegantly concentrated with stylishly restrained aromas of white stonefruits along with subtle herbal and floral elements, revealing some nutty interest. This has vinous depth and builds in intensity in the glass. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the mouthfeel is well-weighted with presence and a soft, positive texture. The fruit flavours of white and yellow stonefruits, lifted florals and herbs show a subtle richness, and along with soft acidity, the mouthfeel is harmonious and balanced. The phenolic textures are very well-managed and carry the palate to a well-flavoured, soft-textured, lingering finish. This Gruner Veltliner has fruit weight and presence, and fine phenolic structure. Match with most white meat dishes over the next 3-4 years. 18.0-/20 Dec 2015 RRP $29.00
