Naked Vine Marlborough Pinot Noir 2011

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 19-Dec-2012
Dark, deep, purple-hued ruby-red colour, very youthful in appearance. The nose is fresh with ripe, primary fruit aromas of red cherries and raspberries, showing good depth and concentration. Nuances of herbs and spices unfold in the glass. Medium-light bodied, restrained dark raspberry flavours are framed by soft, powdery tannins that form a fine, grainy textured palate. The primary fruit sweetness is lifted by good acidity which adds brightness and freshness, but the tannins are the feature. The flavours are carried to a soft, dry finish with a little flinty, minerally note. This is a soft, textural Pinot Noir with underlying lush, raspberry fruitiness. Match with pastas, risotto and Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 3+ years. Fruit from the ‘Patriarch' vineyard, fermented to 11.8% alc., the wine aged 10 months in oak. Certified BioGro organic. 16.5/20 Dec 2012 RRP $24.95
