Naked Vine Marlborough Pinot Gris 2014

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 03-Aug-2014
Bright, very pale straw-yellow with a suggestion of blush, near colourless on edge. The nose features a good core of lifted floral and pear aromas along with youthful, banana-like fermentation esters that open out seamlessly and grow in volume, revealing stonefruits and honeysuckle notes. Off-dry to taste and medium-bodied, this has soft, full and mouthfilling flavours of pear fruit and exotic florals harmoniously infused with esters and flavours of honey. The palate is balanced and harmonious with subtle, dry phenolic textures and discreet acidity providing background freshness. The wine flows smoothly to a rounded, mellow finish with good length. This is a voluminous, exotic-fruited off-dry Pinot Gris with youthful esters lift, a soft mouthfeel and good presence. Give it 6 months to settle down and serve with poultry and Asian cuisine over the next 2-3 years. Fruit from the ‘Patriarch’ vineyard fermented to 13.4% alc. and 5 g/L RS. 17.0/20 Aug 2014 RRP $17.95
