Muriel ‘Vendimia Seleccionada’ Rioja Reserva 2008

Tempranillo from Spain
Review Date : 01-Mar-2013
Tempranillo from Rioja Alavesa and Alta, from vines 30 y.o. on average, the wine aged 2 years in equal portions French and American oak, 30% new. Full, dark ruby-red colour with some garnet and bricky hues. The bouquet is very elegant, with subtle layers of savoury red fruits and balsamic complexities entwined with oak cedar and spices. Medium-full bodied, this is extremely elegant, and smooth with satin-like textures. The tannins are very refined, but form appositive line with subtle drive. Layers of sweet fruit and oak merge seamlessly with savoury tobacco, earth and game hints. The finesse of the mouthfeel and length of flavour is sensational. This will drink well over the next 5-7+ years. 19.0-/20 Feb 2013 RRP $28.00
