Muriel ‘Vendimia Seleccionada’ Rioja Gran Reserva 2004

Tempranillo from Spain
Review Date : 01-Mar-2013
Tempranillo from Rioja Alavesa and Alta from vines 50 y.o. on average, aged 30 months inequal portions French and American oak, 30% new. Deep ruby-red colour with garnet hues, lighter on edge. The bouquet is very elegant and refined, quite ethereal, but showing finesse combined with concentration. Savoury red fruits, earth and leather hints and oak cedar, very much in balance. Medium-bodied, the gentle sweetness of flavours feature on palate. An array of red fruits with secondary earth and tobacco interwoven with oak spices and cedar. Very smooth with the finest tannin line, the richness and stylishness the hallmark. This will drink well over the next 5-6+ years. 18.5/20 Feb 2013 RRP $37.85
