Moderately dark, deep, ruby-red colour, lighter edged. The nose is gently full with integrated aromas of spicy red berry fruits, white pepper, dark red florals and dried herbs, the bouquet building in depth in the glass. Medium-bodied, light fruit flavours of cool, red berry fruits are underlined by elevated acidity, providing a racy and brisk mouthfeel. The structure from modest extraction allows the fruit to feature on the front palate, the flavours becoming lighter, revealing white pepper notes and herbs. The finish is marked by sweet and spicy fruit following a fine, grainy tannin line. This is a light, cool-spectrum Syrah with pepper and herb flavours, and fresh acidity. Serve with antipasto, charcuterie and tapas over the next 3-4 years. Fruit from 14 y.o. vines, fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine spending 4 weeks on skins and aged 14 months in 50% new oak. 16.5+/20 May 2014 RRP $50.00
